SRB caught up with longtime Broomfield resident Lisa Gallegos and was so entertained by her story.

How long have you lived in Broomfield ?

“I’m a fifth generation Colorado native and our four-yr old granddaughter, Elizandra, is a seventh generation Coloradoan.” Lisa said she and her husband, Joe, have lived in Broomfield 26 years. The couple have been married 36 years and raised two daughters.

How did you and Joe meet and what do you enjoy most about being married ? She and Joe met on a blind date. She enjoys being married and said, “I like having somebody to depend on…knowing that he’s there.” She added that she loves the way he’s taken such very good care of their family.

What was your career and what do you now enjoy during your retirement ? Lisa worked as an administrative technician with the City and County of Broomfield for Health and Human Services for 17 years. “It was the best job I ever, ever had,” she exclaimed. “I retired so that I could take care of Elizandra full time,” she said. Her second grandchild, a boy, is due in November. Lisa said she and Joe camp often in their 36-ft motorhome and have gone on numerous cruises, which they both like doing.

Lisa has planned her upcoming 60th birthday celebration with a trip to Disneyland with her family. In her free time she likes reading biographies. Lisa currently also serves on the Board of Directors with Senior Resources of Broomfield.
